Electronic Air Cleaner Installation Cost
By ProMatcher Staff
The average cost of installing an electronic air purifier or cleaner is between $980-130 for a typical residential unit. To find estimated prices in your local area, check out our Air Purifier Installation Cost Report. Check out the article below to find out how these five important factors will impact the cost of your project.
1. Local labor rates. Your geographic location may have a greater impact on the total cost than you previously though. The labor can end up costing just as much (if not more than) the unit you select. This is particularly true in large cities and major metropolitan areas. The cost of labor tends to be significantly lower in more rural areas.
2. Unit capacity. An electronic air cleaner (or air purifier) uses an electrical charge to remove allergens, pollen, dust, and bacteria from the air in your home. This type of air purification system can capture particles that a typical furnace filter may not be able to catch. The required CFM capacity of your air cleaner will depend on the square footage of your home or business. Units for larger spaces will be more expensive.
3. Additional features. Some electronic air cleaners will include a UV light that helps to remove additional contaminants from the air. Additionally, ultra-quiet units may come at a slightly higher price point.
4. Other HVAC services. When your whole house air cleaner is being installed, you may want your HVAC contractor to complete some additional work. Any additional projects will come at an additional cost, including installing a thermostat or a furnace-mounted humidifier. 5. Electrical wiring. Is there an electrical outlet nearby? If not, you may need to hire an electrician to install one. This should be done before the air purifier is mounted to the forced air system’s return duct.
